Youth Korfball
Youth training sessions
June 2009 - June 2010.

Korfball was originally developed by a Dutch school teacher in 1902, as a sport that would encourage cooperation between boys and girls at his school. It remains ideal for school-aged kids today, and CaNKorf now has its own youth section. We are also keen to get korfball introduced into the curriculum (and extra-curriculum) at as many schools as possible, and would love to hear from any teachers or assistants who could help us to do this.

CaNKorf's youth section is currently open to new members between the ages of 8 and 16. The older people in this range (those over 14 years old) are also welcome to join in with the adult section that trains after the youths if they want to (and if their parents consent to this).

Clubmark logo All of our youth sessions are coached by a small team of nationally-qualified korfball coaches and CRB-certified assistants from CaNKorf and Castle KC. The club does everything that it can to be child-friendly, and has recently been accredited by Clubmark, the country's leading quality assurance scheme for clubs with junior sections.

When and where we play
The South Cheshire Korfball Academy meets every Tuesday evening, from 6:00pm to 7:00pm, during college term-times. These sessions are held in the main sports hall at South Cheshire College, on Dane Bank Avenue, Crewe (click here for a printable map and directions to the College).

Whenever the college is closed (for half-terms and vacations, etc.) we play somewhere else (see this map for some of the other places we use)! For the Summer holidays of 2010, the youth section will be training from 6:30pm to 7:30pm in Queen's Park, Crewe.

What do you need to play?
You don't need any special equipment to play korfball - just a regular pair of trainers, and some clothes that you don't mind getting a bit sweaty in! Most players just wear shorts and T-shirts (it's not a high fashion sport). It's also a good idea to bring a bottle of water along so that you can have a drink during the breaks.
New players will also need to fill out a parental consent form, giving us contact details and details of any medical conditions, etc. Parental consent forms will be available at all training sessions, or can be downloaded from the web by clicking here.

How much does it cost?
CaNKorf's youth sessions cost £1 each.
